Re: Bell Mobility proposed installation of a 60-metre Telecommunication Tower on the property of 1111 Chem de la Vallee - Sutton Junction

We Don’t Want It!

Despite the lack of notification by the municipality and that there was no public consultation, a handful of neighbors were able to notify the majority of citizens residing in Sutton Junction of Bell Mobility’s proposed 60-metre Telecommunication Tower.

What has quickly become apparent is that our community is overwhelming opposed to this project, as the accompanying Petition of 100 plus Sutton Junction residents will attest to.

We are in favor of progress, but the facts are cell phone reception is already sufficient in our sector and there are alternative methods to acquire Internet coverage for those who wish it.

Our citizens have many deep-rooted objections to this monstrous eyesore. These objections include; the blight on natural beauty of our region, the distinct ecosystem of the valley, and the documented affects on property values as well as many health concerns.

To quote the Mayor of Sutton: “More and more, our ecotourism-centric economy makes itself known. Suttonites also think it’s essential to place great importance on the protection of the agricultural potential, environment and landscapes that are so dear to them, so as to share an exceptional quality of life with their children and loved ones… see for yourself why we are so keen to protect our town and its heritage. When you do visit, we are counting on you to preserve this magnificent domain of forests, mountains and fresh air.”

We applaud these sentiments, as well as the Ville de Sutton’s moratorium on smart meters. Which makes the Council’s decision to approve the equivalent of a 20-story building in our rural community baffling, to say the least.

Quebec’s Superior Court recently ruled municipal governments must address health concerns expressed by citizens regarding federally regulated radio frequency radiation.

Since Sutton Junction’s amalgamation with Ville de Sutton, and as we do not have sectoral representation, each Councilor and the mayor are directly responsible for our wellbeing. As so, we call on you to DENY Bell Mobility’s application.

Thank you for your consideration:
